The hospitality sector in Xàbia, accompanied by the associated services sector, got behind the wheels of their cars this morning to drive through the streets of the town in a mobile protest to demand that the administrations – local, regional and state – don’t abandon them and develop a rescue plan for the sector to deal with the crisis caused by the closures imposed on them by the measures designed to fight the spread of the COVID-19 infection.
Gathering in the new car-park in the port, the cars set off in noisy protest in the direction of the Arenal, travelling along the Primer Montañar, before taking Avenida del Pla back towards the historic centre, driving down Avenida Principe de Asturias, before making their way to the car-park next to the bus station.
The noisy convoy, who displayed messages such as “Hospitality is not the problem” and “We want a rescue plan” on their windows, received plenty of support from many residents who were in the streets.
