Galvañ: “The Comunidad Valenciana leads decline in national unemployment for second consecutive month.”

Almost 40% of the absolute decline in unemployment in Spain is in the Comunidad Valenciana whilst the data on Social Security affiliation also confirms the positive trend.

The regional secretary of employment, Antonio Galvañ, has assessed the registered unemployment figures for March released by the Ministry of Labour, which show a decrease of 4,905 people in the Comunidad Valenciana, confirming that the autonomous region leads the drop in national unemployment for the second consecutive month, ahead of Catalonia and Galicia (decreases of 2,556, and 1,822, respectively).

Galvañ emphasized that almost 40% of the absolute decrease in unemployment in Spain is in the region (-13,311, -4,905), adding that “of every three people in Spain who leave unemployment, one is from the Comunidad Valenciana“. He expressed the regional government’s satisfaction with data that reflects that the policies implemented the PP-led administration have been generating “a climate of business confidence that has fostered the creation of stable, quality employment in our region“.

In addition, the Social Security affiliation data also confirmed the positive trend in the region and, according to the published figures, the Comunidad Valenciana is the third region with the highest number of contributions, with 20,352 new contributors (up 0.9%).

The regional employment secretary expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the reduction in unemployment has been widespread across all sectors, especially in industry (-1.8%), followed by services (-1.72%), agriculture (-1.59%), and construction (-0.53%).

Regarding the provinces, unemployment fell most sharply in Valencia (-2.17%), followed by Alicante (-1.13%) and Castellón (-0.49%), which means that, according to the regional secretary, “reconstruction is working“.
