CD Jávea crash 0-2 at home to Santa Pola CF

Marina Alta Football

After the morale-boosting victory the previous week, CD Jávea’s confidence came crashing down against Santa Pola CF who demonstrated why they were one of the pre-season favourites for promotion and immediate return to Lliga Comunitat. A goal from David Navarro just before half-time, a controversial opener after the referee dismissed calls from all corners of the ground for a clear foul at the other end of the pitch, was joined by an easy strike from José Tomás López on 63 minutes to secure all three points against a rather lacklustre home side. CD Jávea drop to 7th whilst Santa Pola CF climb to third spot.

Mutxamel CF’s 2-0 away win at Callosa Deportiva CF opens up a two-point gap at the top of the table after CD El Campello’s 2-2 home draw against lowly CD Betis Florida. Early pace-setters CD Montesinos slip down into fourth after an away defeat at CD Almoradí, whose impressive unbeaten run has lifted them from the bottom three to within a position of the top half of the table which doesn’t bode well for Jávea’s next game. Novelda CF climb to 5th spot after a 2-1 home win over Catral-Castrum CF, two late goals in the 86th and 90th minute securing the victory.

At the other end of the table, CF Intercity ‘B’ crushed Villajoyosa CF 3-0 at home to record their third straight game without defeat and move to within two points of safety. CF Sporting de San Fulgencio slip to second from bottom after a 3-0 away defeat at Villena CF, who recovered from their drubbing in Jávea last week by scoring three goals in twenty minutes in a game that also saw 12 yellow cards shown by the referee. CD Betis Florida remain in the bottom three, despite a 2-2 draw at promotion hopefuls CD El Campello.
