Xàbia Council begins first phase of forest clearing work
The first phase has focused on a municipal plot of land of around 30,000 square metres in the Balcón al Mar-Ambolo area, and will gradually be extended to other areas.
Xàbia Council has launched the first phase of actions aimed at protecting the natural environment, focusing on forest clearing work to reduce the risk of fires in the hilly areas of the municipality. This work has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Generalitat Valenciana and has been carried out through the Department of Services and Environment. The total grant is €15,000.
The work includes the clearing, cleaning and maintenance work on forest areas. Initially, the project has focused on a municipal plot of land of around 30,000 square metres in the Balcón al Mar-Ambolo area, and will gradually be extended to other areas. The company in charge of carrying out the clearing has been contracted following a public tender
The councillor responsible for the Environment, Juanlu Cardona, has highlighted the importance of this work: “Our objective is to ensure the protection and conservation of the natural environment of Xàbia, as it represents a valuable heritage for all. This forest clearing project is only the beginning of a comprehensive plan that will allow us to guarantee the safety of our environment and preserve the landscape for future generations.”
This initial phase is part of a set of planned operations that will be carried out progressively in other forest areas of the municipality, reaffirming the local council’s commitment to the sustainability and safety of natural spaces, working actively to preserve the biodiversity and landscape of the municipality.
