A late, late equaliser from the hosts denied Jávea of maintaining a 100% record on the road.

CD Jávea travelled into the deep south and almost pulled off a significant victory against a side that topped the table at the beginning of the weekend. In a game that the visitors dominated for much of the time, Tomás Calvo put the rojiblancos ahead on the 59th minute and the goal looked to have secured a third straight away win and maintain the Jávea’s 100% record on the road, especially after the hosts were reduced to ten men. But, just seconds before the referee was to bring the game to a close, the hosts managed to bundle home the equaliser through defender Guilabert.

Elsewhere in the league, Mutxamel and CD El Campello move into joint top spot after narrow wins whilst Catral-Castrum CF drop away from the top three after a remarkable 1-4 defeat at home to CD Murada. Last week’s victors in Jávea, CD Betis Florida, lost 1-2 at home to CF Sporting de San Fulgencio, a side which had lost all four opening games, including a 2-7 thumping at Villajoyosa CF.

The league takes a short break for the national fiesta on October 12th so next up for the rojiblancos is a home game against Catral-Castrum CF on the weekend of 19th/20th October – kick-off details to be confirmed. Jávea have lost both games at home this season and will need the support of the 12th player in the stands to end that miserable run. The inspiration should be that the last time the rojiblancos won at home was at the end of last April when champions-elect Benidorm CF arrived in town, aiming to celebrate securing the championship but were shocked as Jávea stormed into a 3-0 lead early in the second-half and managed to hold on for a 3-2 win. More of the same would lift spirits.
