FGV has established the stops of the substitute bus service in the vicinity of the affected stations on this section of Line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia

From Tuesday 1 October, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has extended the alternative bus service between stations between Altea and Teulada of Line 9 of the TRAM d’Alacant (Benidorm-Dénia) as a result of the works in progress on the new viaducts of Algar and Mascarat. The alternative bus transport will operate along this section with stops near the stations of Altea, Garganes, Cap Negret, Olla Altea, Calp, Benissa and Teulada.

This interruption of the railway service is a continuation of that carried out on the Altea-Calp section, which was first established as a result of the emergency works carried out to deal with the effects of the fire that occurred last January in the Mascarat area, through which this line runs. The current interruption is due to the works on the new Algar and Mascarat viaducts. In a final phase, in November and before the completion of the works scheduled for December, the modification of the service will again affect the Garganes-Calp section.

FGV reminds all users that they can obtain more information by calling the information telephone number 900 72 04 72, on the website and on the official TRAM d’Alacant app.

Work on the Algar and Mascarat viaducts

The works on the new Mascarat and Algar railway viaducts on Line 9, located in the municipality of Altea, have a joint budget of over 16 million euros and are financed by European Funds. FGV has made these actions coincide in order to complete the modernisation process of Line 9 that links Benidorm and Dénia before the end of the year, .

Once the renovation works on the Algar and Mascarat viaducts are finished, the modern diesel-electric propulsion units Series 5000 will be able to run along Line 9 of the TRAM d’Alacant (Benidorm-Dénia), avoiding the transfer that currently takes place in Calpe for travellers.

Emergency Works

The emergency works have made it possible to remedy the deficiencies caused to the railway infrastructure and its surroundings by the forest fire of 6 January. Since last April, work has been carried out to mitigate possible geological risks; the reconstruction of embankments and drainage infrastructure; and the reduction of erosion on slopes and hillsides close to the track layout.

The work has been carried out along nearly three kilometres of railway line and has had a budget of three million euros, VAT included.
