COUNCIL OPENS BIDDING PROCESS FOR CONTRACT TO CONTROL STRAY CATS

Some 40,000 euros has been put aside to hire a veterinary clinic to carry out sterilization.

The Department of Animal Welfare in Xàbia has opened the public bidding process for the hiring of a veterinary clinic that will be responsible for the sterilization of stray cats that live on the streets of the municipality.

The contract, for which a maximum of 40,000 euros (inc IVA) has been allocated, is for one year and the winning clinic will be required to carry out the sterilization process at a rate of 42.35 euros for male cats and 84.70 euros for female cats, with an additional 12 euros available for implanting a chip.

The responsible councillor Fátima Jarjor explained that one of her priorities after taking office has been to move this process forward to find a solution to the problem of strays cats in the streets of Xàbia, which will continue for the next few years. She added that she has also been in continuous contact with the two volunteer associations that care for these cats in the municipality.
