The General Assembly of the Comunidad Valenciana Football Federation (FFCV) has confirmed the composition of the groups for the top three levels of amateur football in the region for the 2023/24 season which will begin at the start of September.
Lliga Comunitat
As expected, the new top tier in the region, the ‘Lliga Comunitat’ which will feed into the national system at Tercera Federación level, will compose of two groups, Grup Nord and Grupo Sur, and CD Jávea has been placed in the southern group.
At the end of the regular season, the winners of each group will be automatically promoted to the Tercera Federación whilst a play-off competition between the 2nd and 3rd placed teams will determine the third promoted side. The bottom three sides in each group will be relegated to the Primera FFCV (formerly the Regional Preferente). The season will begin on the weekend of September 9th/10th.
Primera FFCV
The Primera FFCV will be composed of four groups. At the end of the regular season, the champions of each group will win automatic promotion to the Lliga Comunitat whilst the second-placed teams will compete in a play-off competition to determine the other two promoted sides. The bottom three sides in each group will be relegated to the Segona FFCV. The season will begin on the weekend of September 9th/10th.
Group 3 has a familiar look to it as it features many of the clubs against which CD Jávea competed during the 2022/23 season. New additions include Pego CF.
Segona FFCV
The Segona FFCV will be composed of eight groups. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top three sides will participate in a play-off competition to determine the twelve sides to be promoted to the Primera FFCV. The bottom three sides will be relegated to the Tercera FFCV. The season will begin on the weekend of September 9th/10th.
Group 6 will feature several sides from our part of the region, including CE Pedreguer, CF Bellreguard, CF Orba, FB Teulada-Moraira, Gorgos CF and UD Oliva whilst Group 7 will feature UD Altea and UD Benissa.
Tercera FFCV
The FFCV has yet to confirm the composition of the Tercera FFCV, the bottom tier of regional football in the Comunidad Valenciana, although it is likely to consist of 16 groups once again with promotion through the play-offs for the group champions.
This level includes surely one of the worst football teams in the world. Sueca United FC finished bottom of Group 10 last season, losing 28 of their 29 games and conceding 676 goals, scoring just 10. Their campaign included a 0-44 home defeat to the reserve side of L’Alcúdia but also recorded a fine 3-0 home win over AD El Perelló on the last day of the season. There is a positive side to the story of Sueca United though. The club was created in 2001 to give opportunities to those players who would never otherwise have an opportunity to play competitive football.
