Xàbia Council is planning to start the urbanization works of the Plan Parcial Mar Azul – in the surroundings of Cala La Barraca – next week, a project that will involve a major improvement of public infrastructure in the estate at a cost of some one million euros.
The work will mean that the local council will comply with an order issued by the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de la Comunitat Valenciana (TSJCV) to complete the urbanization works of a partial plan developed in the 1980s that the developer left unfinished.
The project includes the construction and paving of kerbs and pavements on secondary roads, the installation of 173 low-consumption street lamps and the creation of a drainage network for the evacuation of rainwater.
The work will be carried out by Categor Obras y Proyectos SL and is expected to take some six and half months to complete. It has been organised into sections to minimize access problems for residents since traffic flow will be restricted at times (although the urbanization will not be completely closed to traffic) as well as minimize disruption to visitors to Cala de la Barraca/Portitxol during the summer months.
