Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar have sent an important letter to the Comissió de Reis de Xàbia and collaborators announcing the days in which they will visit the municipality with their magic if the health situation does not worsen. Just as last year they had their royal mailboxes installed and they toured practically the entire town on horseback, this year they intend to go one step further and, in an adapted way, make themselves even more noticeable to the people.

As they have explained in their message, on Sunday 26th December their crimson mailboxes will appear on the promenade of the Arenal beach, in the port, and in front of the town hall in the heart of the historic centre so that all boys and girls put post their cards in them. These will remain on the streets until the morning of January 5th. However, their Majesties have expressed their wish that everyone in Xàbia write to them this year and, for that reason, they have detailed a complete schedule for collecting letters throughout the municipality.

Thus, on Sunday 2nd January at 5.00pm, the Royal Emissaries will visit port collecting – personally – letters from young and old. Unlike other years, the meeting will not take place outside the church of Our Lady of Loreto, but the Emissaries will walk through the streets of the port area so that all those who want to can come up to them and give them their letters loaded with wishes.

On Monday 3rd January and Tuesday 4th January, one of their best kept secrets of this year will be revealed: the Royal Camp of their Majesties. The pages will display a large living nativity scene in the Riurau d’Arnauda in which numerous companies and individuals from the municipality have contributed. Doors open on both days at 4.00pm and will remain open until 8.00pm and the area will have capacity control and a pre-established circuit to enjoy it safely. In addition, the last letters can be delivered so that they arrive in time to the East.

On Monday 3rd January, the Arenal will also experience its first official visit from the Royal Emissaries. From 5.00pm, they will arrive on the Paseo del Tenista David Ferrer and, next to the large Christmas tree, they will collect the letters of all the residents who come there.

On Wednesday 5th January, the long-awaited arrival of their Majesties will take place. At 5.00pm, the Kings will arrive at the fishing pier accompanied by the local fleet. While their pages begin to work distributing the gifts to the Xabiera families, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will visit the port and the historic centre displaying their illusion and showing their gratitude towards the little ones who have given such a good example to society in the last two years. Their majesties have shown their desire to surprise all the local residents with the majesty of their caravan, but being aware of the current pandemic and adapting their traditional visit and there will be no stops along the route.

Logically, collective responsibility is essential so that Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar can be present in Xàbia. In all acts, the use of a mask and the maintenance of interpersonal distance will be mandatory.

The arrival of the Magi is the responsibility of many local entities beyond the Department of Fiestas. In this important visit, the Comissió de Reis as well as the three business associations in the municipality, the Comissió de Fogueres (with its three quintàs of 2020, 2021 and 2022), the Comissió de Festes Mare de Déu de Loreto and the Junta of Festes de Moros i Cristians.
