Podemos Xàbia has organized a cycling rally for Sunday 19th December to demand that the municipality becomes a much safer for those who travel on two wheels or in personal mobility vehicles such as scooters.

The date was not chosen by chance. December 19th has been selected by the International Transport Association as International Transport Day, thus claiming the bicycle and the scooter as the main means of transport.

A statement from Podemos claims that the relatively low use of bike or scooter in Xàbia is “the feeling of lack of safety” and has organised the rally to demand that the local government” has an extensive and continuous network of bike lanes throughout the municipality”, a network that hasn’t changed in eleven years.

The left-wing populists demand that “each street that is reformed incorporates a bike lane” and those roads where one cannot be created be converted into “cyclo-streets with a speed limit of 30kph and priority given for cyclists.”

The rally takes place at 11.00am on Sunday 19th December, starting at the olive tree roundabout on the outskirts of the old town (Calle Sénia de Gual).
