The Parque Natural del Montgó has decided to dedicate its next educational workshops to birds, kicking off the autumn season of activities on Saturday 9th October with a guided tour for all the family across La Plana to discover the importance of birds within ecosystems, especially those who nest across the plateau.
The excursion forms part of the project to learn about biodiversity through education and, in addition to learning about the environment in which the main species can be found, how they feed, reproduce and help keep the natural environment in which they live in optimal condition, the tour will include cleaning the bird boxes which are located in the pine forests of the Montgó plateau.
These bird boxes are small wooden cubicles which have been especially created and carefully place to facilitate the production and reproduction in insectivorous birds. Their maintenance is essential to guarantee the laying of eggs and to protect the birds that next in them.
The guided tour will start at 10.00am on Saturday 9th October on La Plana de Justa and will last approximately three hours. It is especially suitable for families with children up to 10 years of age. To register or request more information, interested parties can ring 679 19 64 61 or email parque_montgo@gva.es.
A second workshop will take place on Sunday 31st October as part of the World Migratory Bird Day, a global campaign which aims to raise awareness of migratory birds and the need for international cooperation to conserve them. This activity offered by PN Montgó will highlight how affected the natural migrations of birds are due to climate change, loss of biodiversity and pollution.
The natural park will be inviting all interested people to come along to discover the birds through their flight and song as well as explain the ecological environment in which they live and participate in the development of the bird boxes which have been deployed to promote their growth and reproduction in a safe and controlled way.
The guided tour, which is suitable for families, will start at 9.00am at the Centro de Interpretación del Montgó in Camí de Sant Joan in Dénia and will last around three hours. To register or request more information, interested parties can ring 679 19 64 61 or email parque_montgo@gva.es.
