The newspaper El Pais has reported that Spain’s regions are divided over entry checks for bars, restaurants and other leisure venues, with customers having to provide proof of being COVID-19 free before being allowed access. Whilst the High Court in the Canary Islands has ordered a suspension of the regional government’s decision that customers have to provide proof of full vaccination, a recent negative test, or recovery from the disease, due to privacy issues, the government in Galicia has been able to adopt a similar measure without any legal objections. Cantabria, Melilla and Andalusia are considering similar measures whilst Extremadura, Pais Vasco and the Comunidad Valenciana openly oppose the idea.
