The regional health ministry has announced that all people in the age group 60-65 in the Comunidad Valenciana will have completed the immunization process by the end of the week, after several weeks of administration of the second dose, mainly with the AstraZeneca vaccine. The same will apply to those people under 60 who belong to essential groups.

The notable reduction in pending second doses will mean that, from next week, people vaccinated with AstraZeneca eight weeks ago, will be summoned to be vaccinated at their corresponding health centres.

On the other end, people in the 66-69 age group who have been vaccinated with Pfizer will have already received their second dose to complete the vaccination schedule, which will mean that 92% of those aged between 60 and 69 which have received the complete vaccination by the end of the week.

Next week marks the third week of the highest number of people vaccinated with Pfizer and it is expected that between July 19th and 25th, some 265,000 doses will be administered with this vaccine alone. Specifically, 150,000 jabs are planned as second doses and 115,000 planned as first doses.

The deputy director general of Healthcare Management Evaluation at the regional health ministry, Ramón Limón, explained that “in planning the administration of the vaccine against COVID-19 we must balance the doses provided by the different providers with the summons to be made“.

Limón added that “the third week of the peak of vaccination with Pfizer of first doses will be fulfilled. We must give an effective response to meeting the deadlines in the guidelines of each vaccine and that will happen next week with the 265,000 Pfizer vaccines that will be administered“.
